Williamsburg Spinners and Weavers Guild is an educational organization formed to foster interest in spinning, weaving and the related fiber arts, and to encourage the exchange of information and inspiration among members and the greater community and region at large. Anyone interested in spinning, weaving, knitting, felting, etc. is welcome to join. Our members are located primarily in the Williamsburg, Virginia area, and on the Middle and Northern Necks.
We meet monthly at 10:00 a.m on the third Monday. Meetings are normally held in the James City County/Williamsburg Community Center, 5301 Longhill Road, Williamsburg VA. Please see the Meetings page for meeting topics.
During the year, we hold workshops from time to time. During 2005, WSWG hosted Celia Quinn in a three-day spinning workshop, and Joanne Tallarovic in a three day weaving workshop. Celia Quinn returned in November 2006 for a two-day spinning workship on color blending. Photos from these and other events are shown in the Photo Gallery.
Members of WSWG participate in several community events and competitions during each year. Several spinners and weavers appeared at the Midatlantic Quilt and Fiber Festival in Hampton VA during February 2006: their photos appear here.
